the bang for your buck

After working in a corporate photography studio while in college, I realized that time limits on photoshoots are only an invitation for something to go wrong.

I set aside at least an hour's time for every session to account for fussy babies, passing clouds interrupting my light, and anything else that could go wrong.

It's important to me that we get what you dreamed of..

FAQ

What time of day is best?

Generally, the 2-3 hours after sunrise and before sunset are the best. This time of day is referred to as "Golden Hour" and is my favorite time to shoot. I will take into account your location request and the season/weather when we decide on a time.

What should I wear?

I recommend wearing a color on the opposite side of the color wheel than the background. For instance, when standing before trees, a warm color looks best. Think orange/yellow/red. The opposite goes for sunsets - cooler tones contrast well with the warm sunset. Neutrals like gray, black, beige, olive green and taupe are always a great choice! Jewel tones like emerald, navy, indigo and umber are a close second.
Bright white is the only option that presents a challenge because it reflects the colors that surround it and often takes on the shades of the grass/trees/buildings around it.

What if it rains?

I'm willing to roll with it, if you are! A cute umbrella would be a great prop, and kids jumping in puddles is always cute. Or we could go all out like that scene from The Notebook! And of course we can reschedule if those aren't your style!
With enough prior notice, and an additional fee, I can secure a time at The Lincoln Loft as well.

What kind of gear do you use?

Over a decade ago during my sophomore year of high school, my yearbook teacher handed me a Nikon D5000 and assigned me some school events to photograph for the yearbook. I ended up with a D5100 as a graduation present 2 years late and it has been by my side ever since. I will be upgrading soon and can't wait to bring you all even better content!

How do I order prints?

When I send you your gallery here on Pixieset, you will have the option to order prints through the site. Payment and shipping is handled through Pixieset.
