As a coach, I take nutrition very seriously. I love making tasty treats for my girls because they’re such awesome athletes, in addition to teaching them a thing or two about the waystheir bodies work and how to make sure they can function at a level equal to the fast-paced competition of volleyball.
Because I have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), I know how difficult and scary it is to be active when your belly is empty. I learned this the hard way at about age 13 while competing in a huge regional volleyball tournament when I was so lethargic that I literally caught the ball in the middle of a game, then saw stars and nearly toppled over. Coach Mike sent me to the trainer, who recommended some complex carbs, stat. After 2 banana nut muffins, lots of juice and some time to digest, I was back to normal.
I never want my girls to feel the fear that comes with your body failing to do what you tell it to, so I load them up with healthy things every chance I get.
As requested by my hard working prodigies, here are the recipes for all of the yummy, healthy snacks that prepped their bodies for incredible things.
Peanut Butter & Honey Cheerio Bars
Apple Nachos With Peanut Butter & Honey
Cinnamon-Sugar Coated Pumpkin Mini Muffins
Banana Ghosts & Clementine Pumpkins
Oatmeal Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ladies! Let me know if I’ve forgotten one and I will hunt it down to add to the list! 🙂
If you want to try something new, I’ve got hoards more healthy, delicious recipes floating around on my Pinterest.
Stay awesome, ladies! 😘
