I love me a colorful sunrise. This morning bloomed beautiful shades of pink.
I’m always up for the sunrise with Bobby, just like everyone else in this little apartment community. I’ll hear doors slam all day long, punctuating 8:30am and 5:30 PM, give or take a few minutes. This whole little town gets what seems like a lot of traffic at these times every day, everybody on the same schedule. But it’s not nearly as bad as Portland traffic. I don’t miss that at all! In fact, I can walk almost anywhere – as long as I bundle up. I walk just 2 blocks to Dillon’s, the midwest’s Kroger version of Fred Meyer’s on the West coast. It’s funny how many little differences there are. The most jarring differences for me were the tornado shelters everywhere. Most people here have never had, or heard of, an earthquake drill, but it looks like they’ve got their tornado safety mastered down here! And good thing, too because we’re approaching storm season. 😳 The thunderstorms down here are absolutely incredible, though I’m hoping to never witness a tornado!
It’s incredibly flat here. Clouds and wind whip by and you can see for miles. I love it, cause we get the best natural light at home! I mean, look at this:
